Yes, it’s true. It’s been 6 months since we’ve begun #365FeministSelfie.
And I have to admit, taking pictures of myself every day wasn’t always easy. Sometimes I forgot, sometimes I was too tired or sick or felt gross. Hey, it happens. But other times? I would snap a selfie and go, “damn… I’m looking fierce today!” It gave me a little pep in my step. And it was fun to flip through the last 6 months of snapshots to see if I could remember what had happened on a certain day, or why I was giving a particular look to the camera.
But, despite it revolving around the selfie, #365FeministSelfie isn’t a selfish endeavor. Along the way I’ve made some friend and we have commiserated, celebrated, mourned, and cheered ourselves on together. There is power in the selfie – through birth, death, sickness, celebration. I some various representations of women I don’t see in my daily consumption of media and I LOVED it.
